How to Craft Your Email to Bloggers for Maximum Impact

Once you’ve published your post, it’s time to email the authors you linked to in your Avalanche Article.

The aim is to get them to send out a Tweet or mention your article on Facebook or other social media.

In general, you can expect about 50% of the authors to respond.

The first thing to think about is the subject line. A good subject line will make the author open your email.

The subject line

Here are some subject lines I’ve used in the past:

Thanks for the excellent tip! I shared it in this article

The body of the email

You need to craft the message in the body of the email so that the author will send out a Tweet or mention your article on Facebook.

There are four key points you need to keep in mind:

  1. Address the blogger by name.
  2. Mention the post you’ve linked to by name.
  3. Ask the blogger directly for a social media share.
  4. Offer a suggested tweet for ease of sharing.

Don’t send out a generic email to all the bloggers you’ve linked to. It’s more work to personalize the emails, but you will get much better results.

Here are some examples. (Of course, you’ll need to tweak the emails, depending on the subject line and your Avalanche Post topic).

Hi [First name of blogger], your outstanding post, [Name of post you linked to] was chosen as one the top [number] posts on [your post topic]:

Another swipe file to give you some inspiration is the following one:

Hi [name of blogger],

Your amazing post, [Name of Post] was chosen as one of the [number] best posts about [topic]. I’ve included it in my new post,  [Your Post Name]

Bloggers like you make the world a better place. Please keep on going!

[Salutation]

To create the link in the sentence ‘Click here for a suggested tweet’, follow these steps:

Step 1: Shorten the link to the blog post with bitly.

Step 2: Create a tweet you want people to send out with ClicktoTweet (using the shortened URL from step1).

Step 3: Use the following sentence in your email, “Click here for a suggested tweet.”

Step 4: Link the words ‘Click here’ to the ClicktoTweet link you created earlier.

As you can see, in each email template, there is a clear call to share the post on social media.

If you followed the instruction about setting up a spreadsheet for the Avalanche Traffic Strategy, you’ll have all the information about the bloggers name, their email or contact options, and the name of the blog post you’ve linked to at your fingertips.

Once you’ve sent out all the emails, make sure you record your stats again for a week so that you can track and enjoy the traffic avalanche heading your way.

You’ve completed the course. Well done!

Now you know how to use the Traffic Avalanche Strategy, you can create regular Avalanche posts to boost traffic to your blog.
