How to Become a Clickbank Affiliate
If you ask any affiliate where they get the products they promote or where they started with affiliate marketing, most of them will say: Clickbank.
Clickbank is a gold mine of products and can potentially earn you thousands of dollars each month. In fact, there are businesses making over a million dollars per year from their Clickbank products.
You may have heard of Frank Kern, or Eben Pagan (David DeAngelo) – they started out selling their products on Clickbank and to this day, pull in over one million in sales from their Clickbank products.
You can promote Clickbank affiliate products directly on your blog – either through an ad on the sidebar, or on a special page devoted to products you recommend. Another even more lucrative option is to create a dedicated website promoting a specific product and also driving traffic to your blog.
With WordPress, it is easier than ever before to create your own website dedicated to a particular Clickbank product. Once you have created your WordPress site, add content, and then start promoting your blog.
Here’s how to get started as a successful Clickbank affiliate.
The correct mindset
Let me ask you a question. What is your goal for your online money making efforts?
- Is it to make a million?
- To make enough money to pay off your mortgage?
- To make this your full time job?
Everybody has these lofty goals like making a million.
The trouble with lofty goals is that they seem too much like a dream, a fantasy; and in our heads, they become unachievable.
I now have a goal of making $1 profit from any new campaign. If I can make $1, I can make $20; if I can make $20, I can make $100.
If one of your friends came to you and said “I am going to make a million dollars”, you might smile and say “you and me both”. Everybody wants to make a million.
If your friend said “I want to make a dollar profit today” you might laugh and give him a dollar just for making you smile. That is how easy making a dollar profit is.
However, don’t sneer at this lest you underestimate the power of that dollar. If you make your first dollar profit when you have tried and failed many times before to make any money, then that dollar profit is like a million dollars in your eyes.
What that one dollar profit does is give you hope, it spurs you on to make more profit.
If you do this you will be doing what most people don’t; you will carry on. Most people who try affiliate marketing think there is a secret to it. There is no secret – but the people who don’t know there is no secret keep buying ebooks in the hope that they will find the secret.
Yet there are methods of making money. Sure you can find some fantastic ebooks out there, but the true way to make money is by taking action. As soon as you finish this article, take action to start your affiliate career in earnest.
Expanding your wealthy mindset
A lot of people start out trying to make money but never really believe they can do it. If this is you, then I have great news for you, you can change this quite easily.
Let me ask you another question:
If I said to you, you will be earning one million dollars per year from affiliate marketing – what would your reaction be?
Really put yourself in this frame of mind. What would you do if you were really earning $1 million per year from affiliate marketing. What would you change in your life? What would you buy? Where would you live?
Do you really believe you could earn that much online?
It’s more than likely you’re be thinking, ‘Yeah, right! There’s no chance of that happening.’
What if I said you will be earning $100,000 dollars per year from affiliate marketing?
Does that seem more likely? What changes would you make in your life if you were earning that much online?
Maybe you’re still thinking, ‘No way, I can’t earn that much!’
Okay, what if I said you could be earning an extra $20,000 per year from affiliate marketing?
That sounds a lot more plausible, doesn’t it?
Now, if I had said to you at the start of this section that you could be earning an extra $20,000 per year – what would you have thought?
What you have done is expanded your mind to earning more. If I had said to you that I can show you ways of making $20,000 per year online, you might have thought that it was impossible. But now that you’ve expanded your mind to earning more money, the smaller numbers seem more real.
The trouble with most people is that they have a figure in their head but don’t really believe they will reach that figure.

Step 2: Pick a niche that will work for your blog readers.
This can be tricky, but thankfully there are lots of places you can pick up ideas. The more research you do, the more your list of ideas will grow, but here are some great places to get you started in finding ideas for your niche:
This lets you look at the top 100 search terms in Google for a particular day. This is a good general tool when used in conjunction with other tools.
This the US version and is probably better, as you will be selling to a large American market, unless your niche is specifically aimed at the UK market.

Another great resource, which tells you the hot searches for that day. Right now the topic for hot searches in the number 2 spot is ‘page rank’. However, Google has currently put a trademark on this word and you cannot promote it in Adwords, which we will discuss in another article.

Another fantastic, often underutilized tool, which will let you see how many blog posts have been written about your niche.
For example, if you wanted to promote an ebook on ‘the law of attraction’ you would type “law of attraction” into the Google blog search box. As of today, there have been about 87,000 posts written on the law of attraction, a very hot topic. Whereas if you were to type “dung beetle”, there are only 578 posts which mention this.
Step 3: Check out products in the Clickbank marketplace.
Once you’ve picked a niche topic that you are comfortable with and like the sound of, it’s time to check out the Clickbank marketplace. Use the search bar for the product area you are interested in. You can then sort the results by various factors. Choose to search by ‘Gravity’ (explained below).
Tip: only choose products that have a Gravity score of between 20 – 100.
Gravity is a score that Clickbank assigns to each affiliate product according to the number of sales and how recently those sales have occurred. For example, if you see a product that has a gravity of 1.10 , it means it is not selling that many copies, whereas if you see a gravity of 56.32 you will know it has sold a few copies recently.

Step 4: Check out the sales page of your chosen products.
You’ll want to make sure that the style of the sales page reflects your blog. It’s also a good idea to check out whether the product you would like to promote offers banners or other tools for affiliates.
Step 5: Get the code for the product and embed it in the sidebar of your blog.
Click on “Promote” and you will get your affiliate link for this product. If you use a banner in the sidebar, make sure that you use this link. An easy way to do this is to insert the banner into a test page. Use your affiliate link as the image link. Then go to the HTML Editor and copy the banner code and paste it into the sidebar.
One final word
Making money doesn’t happen overnight, but as soon as you find a winning campaign and make your first dollar profit and , it will spur you on. It might take you a little longer than you anticipated, but if you focus on your goals, put in the work and keep going, you can make a lot of money from affiliate marketing.
